How does the process work?
Orders are submitted via the website, phone, email, or mailed to our offices with a photo. Once an order is received the artist will begin hand drawing the personalized illustrations into the storyline creating your child as the star of his/her own book!
How do I add a dedication?
Dedications are placed on the order form inside the dedication box. Dedications are allowed a maximum 100 words, which is typically about a 6 lined paragraph.
What are the photo specifications?
Please submit one forward profile photo of your child. For instance, school portraits are an ideal example of a forward profile photos. Please do not submit photos where the child’s face is obstructed (i.e. hats, masks, etc) to ensure the accuracy of our hand drawn illustrations. Customers may be contacted and asked to resubmit a new photo if our artist feels that we are unable to capture complete accuracy of your star facial features.
How can I submit photos?
Photos can be submitted via website by uploading your photo through the order form, via e-mail (photos@onceuponistar.com), or by mailing a hard copy along with your order form to:

What happens to the child’s photo?
Photos that are uploaded or e-mailed are placed into a confidential file accessible only by our artist. Upon completion of your book illustration, all photos will be permanently deleted from our file. Hard copied mailed photos will be returned via USPS approximately 4-6 weeks after illustrations are complete. Please include return address on the back on your photo.
Are these books appropriate for an adopted or foster child?
Yes. These treasured keepsake books are appropriate for any child. Your book is personalized and customized for each individual child; in which, names, places, and dates can be edited at your discretion during pre-production.
Delivery times and fees
How long does it take to receive the book once an order has been placed?
Orders will arrive approximately 3 weeks after it is placed. Please check your order carefully and thoroughly to ensure accuracy. Errors brought to our attention within the first 5 days (including weekends) will be corrected. Delivery time will be adjusted accordingly after corrections. We’ll ship your completed product via USPS or UPS services.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship all over the world, please refer to international shipping cost for rates.
3 Week Standard Ground Domestic Delivery
- Orders totaling up to $70.00, add $6.95.
- Orders totaling between $70.01-$110.00, add $8.95.
- Orders totaling between $110.01-$150.00, add $9.95.
Free standard ground domestic delivery on single orders totaling $150.01 or more.
Note: Due to the rise in fuel prices, it is not economically beneficially to our customers in Alaska, Hawaii, and other American Territories, to offer standard ground delivery. Please refer to 10 day shipping.

10 Day Expedited Domestic Delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, and other American Territories:
- Orders totaling up to $70.00, add $19.95.

- Orders totaling over $150.00, please call for shipping rates
Extra charges for 10-day delivery apply due to the manual production of the books. These orders are placed as high priority orders and the books are produced before books with the 3 week standard delivery. This service is to accommodate customers that need books by a special or certain date.
Canada/Mexico Delivery: $11.95 per item
International Delivery: $19.95 per item

Which payment options do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Checks and Money Orders.
Is there anyway of knowing if a child already has one of your books?
All orders are crossed checked with our inventory history, if a child already stars in their own book, you will be notified and informed. You would have the option of canceling your order or selecting another book or product.
Why is my child’s middle and last name requested even if it is not used for the book personalization?
We used your child full name to avoid customers that has the same name from receiving someone else keepsake.

How do I order with checks or money orders?
There are two options when ordering with a check or money order:
Option 1: Download order form, print, and mail to Once Upon I Star, 20268 Roscommon Harper Woods, MI 48225. Remember to include your child’s photo for the book illustrations. (Please refer to photo specifications)
Option 2: Call us at 1-248-841-5602 between 7am–7pm EST. Photos can be submitted via direct mail or e-mail. Include order number when submitting to ensure accuracy. (Please refer to photo specifications)
**Please note that with both options 1 and 2 orders will be processed upon receipt of payment. Delivery dates will be based on date payment is received**
When will my credit card be charged?
Due to the customization and personalization of the books, all credit card transactions are processed at the time of the order(s). Please keep in mind that since the standard delivery time is approximately 3 weeks, charges may appear on your statement prior to receiving your order.
Is it safe for me to use my credit card on this site?
